Achievement for all. Raising Attainment Symposium

An all-day event aimed at exploring ways to ensure achievement for all in education will take place at the University of Bolton this month. The university has joined forces with the award-winning education charity ‘Achievement for All’ to present the ‘Achievement for All – Raising Attainment’ Symposium on Wednesday, June 20. The purpose is to promote debate followed by action in the Greater Manchester area about the importance of ensuring achievement and social equity for all learners. The event will be opened by the President and Vice Chancellor of the University of Bolton, Professor George E Holmes DL. There will be three master classes to choose from in the morning and tickets to attend are free. They are: Dr Emily McIntosh, Director of Student Life at the university, who will give a master class entitled ‘Strategies for Promoting Student Success’. Professor Sonia Blandford, one of the country’s foremost experts on social mobility, will give a master class about ‘Achievement for All’. Professor David Hopkins, Chair of Educational Leadership at the university’s master class is entitled ‘Developing a Common Language for Teaching and Learning Across Bolton’. There will be panel discussions in the afternoon about the various education sectors, involving Debbie Hopwood, Head Teacher at Moorgate Primary School; Paul Roach, Chief Executive of the Leverhulme Academy Trust; Hilda Koon from The Manchester College and Dr Duncan Cross from the University of Bolton.
