3 Stats that Prove Upskilling in Data Analyst Skills is a Great Idea

There are many benefits of upskilling when it comes to workplace IT skills, but one of the areas that is set to be huge is data. Our MSc Data Analytics and Technologies course is the perfect platform for computing graduates looking to focus on this specialism, and it’s open to anyone with at least a lower second class (2.2) honours degree (or equivalent) in any subject.

Additionally, you can also apply with five years’ relevant work experience, making it suitable for IT professionals looking to advance their knowledge or change their career path. Here are three stats that prove that upskilling in this field is a great idea!

1. Big Data is set to be worth over £200 billion

The Big Data analytics market is predicted to reach £211 billion by 2023, reflecting the increasing development and digitisation of the business sector. With digital transformation well under way, there will be more data floating around than ever before, and people with data analyst skills will be in demand.

2. One in ten job adverts specify data skills

In a recent survey that looked at 9.2 million job adverts, over one in ten roles listed data expertise as a key skill for applicants. This means that there’s no better time to upgrade your data skills, and qualified data analysts will be able to enjoy excellent job prospects.

3. Over 97% of organisations are investing in Big Data

According to TechJury, a huge 97.2% of companies are now investing money into Big Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. In alignment with this, the same study tells us that 95% of businesses have identified unstructured data as being a problem, making an analyst’s role more critical than ever.
