Careers in Electronic Systems Engineering: Upskill Now for a Better Future

A career in electronic systems engineering is highly rewarding, because your role involves making the seemingly impossible, possible. Through research, design, development and rigorous testing, you will support our ever-growing reliance on electronic devices around the world. By upskilling in this important field, you can boost your employability and enjoy a brighter future.

The MSc Systems Engineering (Electronic) and Engineering Management course at the University of Bolton is designed for ambitious individuals. If you have a Lower Second Class Honours degree (2.2) or higher in an engineering-related subject, and appropriate work experience, you can apply in January 2021. Here are some of the careers you can go into once you graduate:

A career in management
Our MSc Systems Engineering programme helps students develop systematic knowledge and understanding of advanced engineering concepts and design methodologies. Not only that, but you’ll get to learn about the commercial side of project management too, including modules on contract negotiation, stakeholder management, quotations, procurement, and more.
Commercial knowledge will prepare you for a senior management role, giving you a wider view of how systems engineering relates to and impacts the wider business.

A career in consultancy
In addition to management roles, a master’s degree also gives you the opportunity to hone your skills in your chosen area, whether that be mechatronic, electronic or mechanical engineering. This allows you to develop expertise in a desired field, building your skills for a range of consultancy professions.
The appeal of working as a consultant is the chance to diversify your portfolio and work for a number of different companies.

A career in water and energy
The energy sector is one that is undergoing huge change, with renewable energy set to grow by 50% in the next five years. Green energy companies have been a game changer, and highly skilled engineers will have the opportunity to be a part of this movement.

There’s never been a better time for upskilling in this arena, and our MSc Systems Engineering programme can help you future-proof your career. Find out more about enrolling in January 2021 by visiting the course page. At the University of Bolton, not only do we rank in the Top 5 in the UK for Teaching Quality (The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020), but we’re also in the Top 50 UK Universities for Electrical Engineering Courses in The Guardian University League Tables 2021.

In addition to being an award-winning university, we have a dedicated Employability Team who will work with you upon graduation, making us a great place to study if you’re looking for career progression.
