English Creative Writing Why now is the best time to release your blog content

The blank and empty page has haunted many writers for many years, and for those who do not fear it, the next hurdle to overcome is the courage to publish your work. During the lockdown, many people have used blogging as a way to get their ideas out there, but now more than ever, is the time to start sharing it.

Why should I share my blog now?

As millions of people are in lockdown, restricted to their home and struggling to find things to do, most turn to the internet for stimulus. This could be scrolling through their social feeds for hours, watching YouTube, or reading blogs. As so many people are hungry for something to do, now is the time to feed them with your work. Getting a readers attention is one of the hardest things to do, keeping it is something writers craft over time, but as so many readers are willing to give their attention, now is the optimum time to get eyes on your words.

What content should I release?

The old saying goes ‘content is king’ but in fact, ‘context rules all’. It’s possible that currently the lockdown is ruling our feeds, but that doesn’t mean it is the only things you can write about. Plenty of blogs are gaining attention for tips and tricks on how to spend time at home, which services are still running in local areas and the best places to visit when the lockdown is lifted.

If you enjoy writing about food, share some of your simple recipes using the limited ingredients in the cupboard. If films are your passion, write some reviews about the hits showing on Netflix, perhaps you love a good countryside walk in which case, talk abut your favourite walks.

How do I release it?

In short, social media. If there is one way to promote yourself, it is through social platforms, especially as people are sharing content now more than ever. A few shares from those close family and friends and soon enough strangers will start seeing it on their feed which is where the strength of your writing will truly show. Now is the time to share it, so start today!
