Helping Students Expand Their Research In Biomedical Engineering

As a lecturer and programme leader in Biomedical Engineering, my usual day is focused on teaching the younger generation of female and male students and expanding on my research in the biomedical engineering field.

I teach both undergraduate and graduate students as well as guiding the students at my lab, aiming to help them improve their research skills and understanding of biomedical engineering.

Throughout the summer, I offer various placements to the HE5 level students to enhance their capability and skill in research and development of novel biomedical devices. This opportunity helps the students who are interested to enhance their knowledge in this field and improve their understanding of developing a novel idea in the field to the stage of commercialisation.

Concurrently, I communicate with different researchers and industrial leaders to perform innovative and collaborative research and pioneer new technological advancements for the benefit of patients. For example, we are working on several novel research projects in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons and cardiovascular surgeons for developing the new technologies and implants to enhance the medical device’s performance and durability.

The most satisfying aspect of my role is that my research and teaching fulfills students' potential and dream in the field of biomedical engineering, support and aid the future generation of engineers, and ultimately help the society by improving the patient’s health and life by developing new medical devices, equipment and instrument.
