State-Of-The-Art Facilities for Smart Grids and Renewable Energy

In Electrical and Electronic Engineering department at University of Bolton, we are proud of having ultra-modern smart grid equipment in our laboratory for teaching and research. The equipment is used to simulate power networks by the students and they share their experiences and understanding of the module delivered to them by reporting different results obtained from the measurements.

Two sample smart grid laboratory equipment are presented,

a) Power systems and smart grids;
b) Wind Energy Trainer

Distributed energy generation from renewable energy resources is a global problem and at University of Bolton, we do well in training our students with first-class laboratory systems that underlie the engineering and management of renewable energy generation. The students are exposed to the possible renewable energy system integration techniques, possible network faults and how to overcome them.
