The career options in Live Events

The live events industry is vast, with so much going on, from international festivals to local conferences, there is so much to get involved with. For every person that stands on a stage, there is a vast team behind them supporting the performance with sound, lighting, technical and organisational services.

Types of career available from our courses

BA (Hons) Live Visual Design and Production

This course is excellent for those who love the visual aspects of going to events, including lighting, set design, video, photography and costume design. On this course, you will get the skills needed to combine visual art and cutting-edge technology to transform the experience for audiences from mediocre to exceptional. You can graduate with the potential of landing a job in visual production and manufacture for live music, theatre, opera, film and tv, even architectural installations.

BA (Hons) Live Events Production

This course is a great option for those who are looking to discover the industry a little further before committing to a specific route. Here you will be introduced to lighting design and technology, live sound, live visuals and event business before choosing a pathway to get involved with. The careers you could have from gaining this particular degree are vast and encompass the entire live events industry from set designers to stage manager.

BA (Hons) Stage Management and Production

This course will provide you with the techniques used in the industry to deliver a smooth-running evens. By completing this degree, you’ll have the necessary qualification to run all types of events, from international tours to fashions shows and parties. 

A career in stage management means you control everything surrounding the production of the event; you could plan rehearsals, provide a safe space for acts and crew, as well as coordinating the designers, technicians, directors and choreographers. Ultimately, you need to be great at organisation and planning.
