The Guardian University Guide rates Media & Photography at the University of Bolton in UK’s top 10

Our Film Production and Photography course at the University of Bolton is ranked 3rd in the North West for Teaching Satisfaction by The Guardian University Guide 2020.

All staff on the course are industry professionals who are passing on their knowledge and experiences to a new generation.

Media Production

The University of Bolton offers several Media related courses, all which focus on building a personal portfolio of work through practical workshops and academic study. With a focus on employability, you’ll be encouraged to enter industry competitions and develop transferable skills desirable to future employers.

With strong ties to the creative community, the University offers students work experience and networking opportunities with day trips to important cultural centres including Manchester’s newest arts centre HOME, Liverpool Tate and nationally renowned Bolton Octagon Theatre.

Photography

The University offers its photography students access to the £10 million purpose-built facilities, which include photography studios, darkrooms, industry-standard computer suites, and digital printing technology.

Students are encouraged to immerse themselves in traditional and digital photography and to apply for work placements with creative companies, graduate internships and prizes, including the Neo:artists Award and the Bradford Industrial Museum Internship Award.

There are plenty of career options for graduates of our Media and Photography courses, with a wide range of specialist skills you’ll be able to join a variety of sectors or even work as a freelancer. The careers that await graduates from these courses are fashion, photojournalism, documentaries, fine art, advertising as well as digital.

Alternatively, you might find that a Postgraduate course is an attractive option; in these courses, we encourage students to focus on contemporary practices across different genres but to ultimately focus on one sector.
