The Gaming industry has been growing rapidly over the last few decades. It has become a norm within society that people play games in their home, from apps to consoles to PCs, more people than ever are gaming; in fact, 2.8 billion people own a gaming device.
With so much desire to play, gaming companies are churning out games at a rapid rate to deliver the experiences we crave. This means there is a huge demand for graduates from Games courses in multiple different areas.
There are plenty of career paths to choose from in the Games industry, here is just a small sample of what could be on offer:
There are of course less technical roles in the industry such as a Script Writer for characters and storylines, Translators for multilingual games, or perhaps you’ll develop into a managerial position of a Game Producer. Many game publishers take on students during their studies as placements, so there are opportunities to enhance your CV.
After you graduate, there are several gaming studios that you could work in, from small boutique studios to big multi-national companies. Some studios provide graduate schemes, but the majority of opportunities are offered as graduate job roles.
By studying at the University of Bolton, not only will you gain the right degree to pursue one of these incredible careers, you will have astonishing industry links to boost your chances of employment after graduation.
As one of the first UK Universities to offer a dedicated Games course, we have been able to develop links with the likes of Sony, Codemasters, Travellers’ Tales and D3T. Our graduates are working on the world’s best games, could you be too?
