Bolton Cube Fire - One Year On

It’s one year since the terrible fire that destroyed the Cube building in Bolton, affecting many of our students.

Professor George E Holmes DL, President and Vice Chancellor of the University of Bolton, said that his most abiding memory was how the University family and wider community rallied around to support those affected.

He said: “The most important thing is that, miraculously, no one was injured or killed in this incident.

“That was thanks to the prompt action of people in the building and the incredibly brave action of Greater Manchester Fire Service, who were superb.

“It was genuinely heartwarming to see how the University of Bolton family and the wider Bolton community came together to support those who had been so severely affected by the fire.

“Our primary focus at the University is the health and wellbeing of our students.

“I was overwhelmed by the hard work and effort of all our staff, those students not directly affected and the generous residents of the borough who helped to look after those who lost their homes and possessions in this traumatic incident.”

We understand some of you may need support at this difficult time – remember that you are not alone.
