Leading UK psychology professor to run workshop

Professor Windy Dryden, the leading Counselling Psychology Professor in the UK, will run the workshop, which will be of interest and relevance to practising clinicians. Professor Dryden has authored or edited more than 200 books and he writes for both the profession and the general public. He is an Emeritus Professor of Psychotherapeutic Studies at Goldsmiths University of London and has been working in the field of counselling and psychotherapy since 1975. He was one of the first people in Britain to be trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and has an MSc in Psychotherapy which gave him a broad view of the field. He works as a practitioner, trainer, academic and writer/editor. Professor Dryden has also agreed to be interviewed by the university’s Professor Jerome Carson, Professor of Psychology and Chair of the Board of Studies for Higher Research Degrees in the Faculty of Professional Studies, for the latest in his series, ‘In the Psychologist’s Chair,’ at 6:00pm on Wednesday 12 June, the evening before the workshop. Professor Carson said: “Professor Dryden is a hugely important figure in psychology, and we are delighted to welcome him to the University of Bolton. His input will be invaluable. The interview will be of great interest to our counselling students and local NHS and private professionals.” The workshop is being run in partnership with local organisation 1-Point and with the University of Bolton’s Professor Patrick McGhee.
