The University of Bolton’s head of the BA (Hons) Theatre and Performance degree, Professor David Thacker is set to stage the northern premiere of Arthur Miller’s: The Last Yankee in the newly-created venue: The Library Theatre from 28 February until 16 March. Prof Thacker, former artistic director of Bolton’s Octagon Theatre, said he was “tremendously excited” to be presenting a play in a “new, intimate and beautiful space” that will see The Lecture Theatre undergo temporary modifications, including a rename to ‘The Library Theatre’, making it suitable for a high-quality theatre production. This bold move by the university will give students the chance to shadow a professional theatre company. “The experience the students will gain from this is invaluable. It will enable them to get a great understanding of what putting together a professional production and theatre company entails.” explained Prof Thacker. Tickets are available from the Bolton Octagon box office: Telephone 01204 520 661, at www.octagonbolton.co.uk, or in person at the Market Place Shopping Centre.
