Nightline service for students

On Friday, Nightline, a confidential listening and information service launched. The student service will open from 20:00-08:00 during term-time, offering anonymous, non-judgemental and non-directive support for all callers.

Nightline will listen and support students with a range of life issues from homesickness, relationships, to mental health, physical wellbeing, lectures and coursework. It is student-led, so students can be assured someone at the other end of the phone completely understands. Students wishing to use the service can access the number by logging into MyBolton app or Moodle.

Beverley Knights, Head of Student Services and the Library at the University of Bolton, said: “Nightline is an excellent service for students to access throughout the evening during term time. Importantly, it is a non-directive service, it’s there to listen and support for when times are tough.”

Nightline will run alongside the Big White Wall service, a 24/7 anonymous service – launched earlier this year, which provides round-the-clock online peer and professional support, with trained counsellors 365 days a year.

It provides a safe space online for students to get things off their chest, explore feelings and learn how to improve and self-manage mental health and wellbeing.
To join Big White Wall’s supportive online community, students can go to bigwhitewall.com and sign up with their university email address using an anonymous username.
