Stress And Strain

University life can be stressful. All students experience some stress whilst at university, perhaps as a result of the pressures of study, finance, relationships, living away from home for the first time or more personal matters. Coping with these things is a normal part of university life. But, while you may prefer to sort things out on your own, we all need someone to talk to occasionally.

Who Can You Turn To?

If you have something on your mind that is worrying you or causing you concern it is often better to talk to someone about it. You may choose to talk to a friend, a relation, the Students’ Union or a member of staff – one of your lecturers or tutors. But if you feel the need to speak to someone who is not involved in your personal life or academic work, you can arrange to see our experienced counsellor.

Our counsellor is fully trained and the service is totally confidential. He has a special understanding of the problems facing today’s students. No problem is too trivial if it is affecting your work or starting to get you down. And even if you’re not sure what is troubling you, just call in for a chat – the counsellor can often help pin down the cause of your stress.
