Jordanna Croswell

Construction Management | 2014

"After studying my BSc (Hons) Construction Management at the University of Bolton, I have now graduated with first-class honours and have been working as a construction site manager at Styles & Wood (integrated property services). The University has enabled me to gain valuable knowledge through industry experienced lecturers whilst the small class sizes allowed the lecturers to support my educational and career growth prospects on a one-to-one basis."

Melanie Blinkinship

BSc (Hons) Construction Management | 2014

"In 2014, I started a Foundation degree in Construction and Surveying at the University of Bolton that included a work placement module. After successfully completing the course, I secured employment with Mott MacDonald Bentley. Having had a fantastic experience at the University of Bolton, I progressed my studies on a BSc (Hons) in Construction Management. I continued my studies at the University of Bolton due to small class sizes, genuine passion from the lecturer towards an individual’s progression regardless of academic level. I continued enjoying my studies at the university and took part in site visits, construction trips to London, whilst also receiving support and networking opportunities around supporting Women in Construction. I graduated from the university in 2018 with a first-class BSc (Hons) in Construction Management."

Andrew Lacey

BSc (Hons) Construction Management | 2014

"In 2014, I decided to have a career change and chose to go back to university to study construction. Because I had left school with no education, I had to do a two-year foundation degree which would then lead me on to year two of a BSc (Hons) Construction Management degree.

Through dedication and the help I received from some amazing tutors, I gained knowledge and confidence during my time at the University of Bolton and graduated with a first-class BSc (Hons) in Construction Management and a Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Award of Excellence.

Today I have secured employment as an assistant site supervisor with VINCI, one of the largest construction companies operating today that has a £34 billion turnover worldwide. The job role includes conducting site inductions and toolbox talks, co-ordinating future works with sub-contractors on-site, checking the quality of the works and make sure all materials are as described specified by the architect, managing health and safety on-site for around eighty operatives and working with the construction managers to get the £15 million hospital built on-time and on-budget."

"A fantastic and broad learning experience that helped me to recognise my own potential and make life-changing career decisions; this undoubtedly came from the lecturers who are experts in their field, and were able to offer an insight of their own personal industry experiences. A life-changing experience."
