What will you study on your Animation and Illustration degree?

Study an Animation and Illustration degree at the University of Bolton, and you’ll develop the skills to become a professional, visual storyteller.

This is a three-year course (or four with a foundation year), which expertly blends two in-demand creative arts; Animation modules allow you to develop your visual voice and ability, as well as your storytelling skills. At the same time, Illustration modules will hone technical aspects, including computer-aided design and printing processes.

You’ll begin with the basics in animation and illustration, moving through to advanced as you develop your style and technique. You’ll become proficient in a number of skills, including:

● Exploration of character design, storyboarding and narrative techniques for both traditional and digital animation
● Illustration methods for screen print
● Film and video
● Editorial illustration
● Character animation
● Visual poetry
● Concept art
● Model-making
● Digital image-making

Over the course of the Animation and Illustration degree, you’ll be encouraged to answer questions creatively and to understand your personal strengths and weaknesses as you look for ways to continually craft your art. You’ll also be motivated to create a portfolio of work and to present in public exhibitions, festivals and fairs, including the prestigious Design and Art Direction (D&AD) in London.

Potential career options after studying this degree includes; animated commercials, advertising and marketing, exhibition or product design, and studio management.
