Our versatile dance degree courses are designed to give you the edge needed to succeed in the competitive performing arts market place.
The BA (Hons) Professional and Commercial Dance is delivered by Shockout Arts; based in Manchester City Centre, Shockout Arts offers a range of professional and commercial dance degrees validated by the University of Bolton.
Throughout your time at Shockout, you will acquire a thorough grounding in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Commercial, Hip Hop and Street dance, developing the knowledge and skills needed for a career in a variety of exciting and demanding professions in this industry.
The BA (Hons) Performing Arts degree is industry-led degree with the focus on you becoming an ‘all-round’ performer/artist in the performing arts industry. You will train at Queen’s Specialist Building, Farnworth, as well as at Shockout Arts, studying and training in purpose-built, high specification performing arts studios.
In this programme, you will gain a thorough grounding in the core techniques of acting, voice and dance, whilst developing a wide range of knowledge in devising, developing a production, audition and casting techniques.
These courses build upon an intensive training regime by also incorporating an eclectic mix of theory relevant subjects. This fusion of both the practical and theoretical enables you to prosper and grow as a confident, unique artist.
We pride ourselves that here, you will be able to learn the essential skills required to start a professional career in dance from BAFTA-nominated choreographers and understand the history and context of this form of artistic expression. While you’re based at Shockout Arts, you will get to study and train in their purpose-built, high-specification dance studios that are equal to professional industry standards.

Alongside your intensive practical dance training, you’ll have regular showcase opportunities to help you develop a diverse range of performance and production skills.
