Students working with Ciceley, Speedworks, and the TOCA Technical team had mixed fortunes over the action-packed weekend. While Ciceley had a massive impact in the first race when Adam Morgan could not avoid the sideways Andrew Jordan’s BMW in front of him, the Accrington-based team managed to change the complete front subframe and engine assembly in under an hour and get the car back out on the grid for race 2. Adam went on to finish 12th from 28th on the grid. The final race saw him improve even further to the 8th position. NCME first-year student James Hunt was assisting on this car over the weekend. While foundation year student George Benton was assisting with the team’s sister car for Daniel Rowbottom. Speedworks enjoyed a better weekend with Tom Ingram winning race 3 and giving the team its maiden win for the new Corolla. NCME students Alan Smith and Callum Taylor both helped to achieve this wonderful feat so early in the season. Throughout the weekend, second-year student Lauren and first-year student Em were kept busy in assisting the championship organiser’s technical team by analysing the nominated drivers’ onboard accident data. The next BTCC race is at Thruxton on the 19 May.
