A North West outdoor education centre charity has scooped a top regional award.
The Anderton Centre, which is part of the University of Bolton Group, won ‘Best Outdoor Learning & Activities Facility - North West’ at the SME News 2020 Northern Enterprise Awards
SME News is a quarterly digital publication aimed at those who run or help to run small and medium-sized businesses in the UK.
Its annual awards celebrate the success stories from the sector and “single out the true market leaders” over the past year.
The Anderton Centre reopened its doors in the summer to offer exciting activities for young people who faced restrictions during the Covid-19 lockdown.
The Centre, based at Lower Rivington Reservoir, Anderton, Chorley, has introduced stringent safety measures to make the site Covid-secure.
It offers a wide range of water and land-based activities to revitalise youngsters and encourage the rebuilding of bonds with friends.
David Germain, Head of Centre – Executive Manager, said: “During what has been an incredibly challenging year, we are excited and humbled to receive this award.
“The team has worked so hard to provide a valuable service to young people and the community.
“Being outside and taking part in outdoor learning helps to combat the negative effects of lockdown and the restrictions we are currently living with due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The Anderton Centre’s success will feature in a 2020 SME News celebratory publication.
