A degree in Games Art will take you to the next level

The University of Bolton is proud to offer students a uniquely designed BA (Hons) Games Art course available for both full and part-time study. We consulted with industry experts from across the UK’s 2,250 active games companies to help us create a degree that will allow our students to get the best possible learning opportunities in preparation for their future careers.

Students on this intensely practical course benefit from our great locations which are close to Manchester city centre, home to 95 gaming companies alone. With this in mind, we allow students to make the most of work placements and show them the vast career opportunities that await when they graduate.

Creating a learning environment that closely mirrors professional life in the gaming industry, we focus on developing the creative and technical potentials of constructing interactive worlds and innovative characters within Game Art.

With the University’s dedicated games labs, high-specification hardware and industry standards software, we place a strong emphasis on studio time. During their studies, our students are guided through the basics of digital character art and environment modeling, for the latest technologies to more traditional and handheld game art.

As one of the first Universities in the UK to offer Games courses, we have built a strong collaborative network of companies who offer Bolton students the opportunity to test upcoming games before they go to market. Previous students have even had their names mentioned in the credits of these games.

With graduates going on to have great career success with TT Games, Rockstar Games, EA, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Codemasters and more, our results prove that our students have the potential to reach the higher ranks of the gaming world.
