Cyber risks are on the increase

Cyber hacking has become a common threat, from big-time companies having their customer financial information stolen to people’s social media accounts being hacked. The cybercrime industry hit £1.5 trillion in profits in 2018, according to a study commissioned by virtualisation-based security specialists Bromium.

As most businesses have a website, they are instantly posed with the threat of their data systems and networks being hacked as there are numerous entry points for criminals.

Yet, it is more worrying that predictions recently announced, that by 2022 there will be a worldwide shortage of 1.8 million information security workers. This suggests that in the near future, there will be a high demand for qualified cybersecurity professionals.

Our Cyber Security course offers the knowledge and skills needed to anticipate and combat threats to computer software and data, including hacking, theft, viruses and many other forms of cyber-attack.

Covering how to design secure computer systems, this unique degree emphasises secure software development and promotes a deep understanding of the structure of computing systems. Throughout the course, you’ll develop technical knowledge and applied skills in security defence techniques and countermeasures, ready to protect computer systems and electronic infrastructures from attack. The course focuses on helping you learn to design and develop your own security tools for probing, analysing and defending computer systems against attacks.
