If you're interested in a studying a PGCE to become an English teacher, the University of Bolton is a great place to begin your journey into work. We are offering a 2020 master's bursary with up to £3,000 to support your Postgraduate studies, and our Employability Team will work with you upon graduation to hopefully secure a job in the right school.
English teacher training is made simple at Bolton University, where we always put our students first. Our PGCE course at master's level is challenging, exciting and rewarding, and our mentors have a supportive and friendly approach to teaching. Here is what you can expect as a trainee English teacher at Bolton.
A chance to work independently
One of the biggest opportunities you'll have is being able to work independently. Not only does this better prepare you for the workplace, and for future research projects, but it also gives you the necessary credits to move onto a full master's degree.
Hands-on practice
We combine traditional study with work-based learning, so you will get the chance to put key theories and pedagogy strategies into practice. Our course leaders will support you throughout the process, and will help you gain hands-on experience through our carefully selected placements.
Guidance on inclusivity principles
As an English teacher, it will be your job to ensure your classes are inclusive and engaging. Inclusivity is one of the most important topics in education right now, and our programme covers a number of inclusive practices. Our mentors will help you plan lessons, deliver classes and assess student performance effectively, while making sure everyone has a chance to contribute and progress.
To find out more about English teacher training at master’s level, go to our PGCE (M) 14+ English (Literacy and ESOL) course page. If you want a supportive and friendly learning environment, the University of Bolton is a fantastic place to study.
