GMCC Art Prize and Exhibition

Two School of the Arts students, Hannah Bolsher (MA Fine Art) and Meg Salvi (BA Photography) have won and made a huge success of internships working on the GMCC Art Prize and Exhibition.

Hannah was appointed as exhibition curator and Meg has worked throughout the year as project manager. The internships culminated in the exhibition opening last week at Bolton Museum and Art Gallery - although Hannah has been invited to extend her placement until September 2019.

The winner James Roper and the three runners-up, Steve Oliver from Rogue Artists’ Studios, Iain Andrews from Manchester and Julie Cassels from Suite Studios, will receive their awards at the Chamber’s Annual Business Dinner, which takes place on 13th June at the Victoria Warehouse.

The 2019 awards have been created by Bryn Richards and Hannah Bolsher of 818 Artists. Bryn is also completing his MA Fine Art this year.

As well as receiving the award, the winner and runners-up will also receive vouchers from art suppliers Fred Aldous, artist paper from G.F. Smith and the overall winner thanks to the University of Bolton will receive a ‘Platform’ residency at the new gallery space at Bolton Train Station.

All the winning pieces, along with the shortlisted selection are now open to the public at Bolton Museum and Art Gallery until the 5th July 2019.
