The power of the written word

There’s something quite incredible about the written word. The limit of 26 letters seems quite restrictive, but the combinations you can produce have the opportunity to create a world of fantasy, emotion, love and despair, the only limit is your imagination. 

Words also have the ability to allow people to express their emotions in ways they had never thought of with freedom and fluidity; it is one of the reasons keeping dairies is recommended to improve mental health.

There are many forms writing can take, you aren’t limited to the option of writing books for adults or children, although the majority of writers will tell you they've got an idea for a book somewhere in their top draw.

Your love of writing could land you a career in the entertainment world, writing scripts for TV shows, or plays. You could even go on to become a songwriter. If you love writing lyrics, or poetry like most musical artists start out doing, then creative writing could help you to develop those talents into a fruitful career.

Other forms of writing could take you into the advertising and marketing world, becoming a copywriter or content writer. Copywriting will see you write marketing material, slogans and short puns for brands to grab their audiences’ attention. Whereas content writing will have you creating longer pieces of copy surrounding a wide range of topics.

There are no limitations to the careers surrounding the written word. Not only is it a valuable skill to be able to paint an image of something in someone’s mind using only words, or to tell a captivating story people cannot pull themselves away from, the skills of a writer also show resilience, creativity and passion.
