The media is often discussing news stories surrounding crime, the good, the bad and of course, the ugly, but there are still plenty of stories that are not told. For prison officers, this is the when their expertise comes to the fore, and they become part of the solution.

Working in a prison is not for everyone, is takes a lot of dedication, tactful thinking and passion but for those who do work in the institutions, it is the one of the most rewarding roles they could imagine. Helping those who have fallen off the right path and showing them the way back to it.

Often people think of inmates as nothing more than people taking up space, but there are many ways people can better their quality of life by using their sentence productively. Prisoners can spend their time studying for a variety of qualifications which help them to start their careers after they are released, but prison officers are key in who supporting their endeavours; making the largest difference in their lives.

Not only do the prison officers help the prisoners better themselves, they also ensure the peace is kept daily.
