Computing Software that has seen dramatic increase in popularity

As the nations ability to see friends and family is limited, people have started to rely more on technology to help them communicate with those they love. It’s nothing new for software engineers as these creations have been around for many years, but some apps are seeing a massive increase in users.

To create an incredible piece of software, it’s important that you already know what is working in the current market. Here are some of the software that people are using to help them stay in touch with others and how they’re becoming a successful essential during the lockdown.

Zoom

One of the most popular tools is Zoom, a video chat that businesses have been using for a while. Zoom allows multiple people to communicate simultaneously through an online service. There’s no need to download apps or join chats and conversations; the creator of the meeting simply needs to send a link to the recipients so they can click and join in. The simplicity of this software is what is making its popularity soar during the lockdown.

Although Zoom’s primary purpose was to help businesses connect over distance, thanks to the lockdown, people are using it for a wide range of things such as hosting virtual quizzes, canceled hen or stag parties and even, club nights.

House Party

This app is relatively new to the market but focusses on younger generations. In a similar set up to the popular platform Snapchat, the app relies on connecting friends through videos but allows you to apply filters and GIFs in real-time. The software rose to high download numbers when lockdown was announced, a simple interface that people are familiar with was what users were looking for to communicate with friends and more.

As soon as you open the app, all your friends will receive an alert that you are ‘in the house’, they can then choose to join, or not. There is the ability to make your house party private, but where is the fun in that? The idea of this app is to bring friends and strangers together and have a great mini-party, the perfect way to stay positive during the coronavirus crisis.

Facebook messenger

Although Facebook has millions of users every day, more people are using its messenger capabilities to have video calls with family and friends. Simply set up a group chat and press the video call button, you can have filters on to make things fun, and take screenshot pictures of your conversations to add to your memories.

Although the platform is already popular, it has seen a considerable increase in usage. The majority of friendship groups and families already have groups set up on the software so seeing those you care about is now a simple click away.

For those looking to start a career in software development, taking notes from these successful products is a good idea. Not only are they providing a necessary service, but their ease of use has seen their popularity dramatically increase.
