Deciding on a career path can seem like a tremendous task to begin with. After studying multiple subjects for years, you finally have an idea about what you enjoy learning and potentially a career to pursue. The next step is to look for a degree in the industry you want to head into.
In this blog, we will look at the careers that can be had in the Electrical and Electronic Engineering sector. If you’re considering a job in the industry, this is a great way to understand some of the roles and at the end of this blog, have more of an idea about what you may want for your future.
The electrical engineering industry works with the study, design and application of applications, devices and systems that use electricity. These careers combine the mathematics and physics of electricity, electromagnetic and electronics so you must have an interest in those key subjects to enjoy this industry.
There are multiple areas within the industry to choose from; one of the most popular in recent years has been working with renewable energy. This can mean working on giant systems on renewable energy farms, or small electronic systems which makes energy more affordable in the family home. This exciting role is developing each year so gives the perfect opportunity for those who want to improve their knowledge continually.
Day-to-day, electrical engineers might travel to different areas, making sure that the systems in place are functioning as they should be and if not, to identify and rectify any issues. Other engineers may continually work on improving systems and install them across the nation.
One famous face who studied in this area is none other than famed British actor, Rowan Atkinson. Before his career developed into acting where he played iconic roles such as Mr Bean and Johnny English, Atkinson has studied to become an electrical engineer at a master’s degree level.
