Our £13 million state-of-the-art facilities, passionate tutors and engaging modules help place our students in pole position for a rewarding career.
Our industry-driven facilities host student-led academic programmes with a vision of developing outstanding engineers who will shape the future of whichever industry you choose. Learn on the racetrack, in the workshop, in our manufacturing areas, and in the classroom, as well as gaining access to some of the most advanced and contemporary equipment.
You will also benefit from a personal approach to learning with small classes and tailored learning plans. Partnering with professional motorsport teams, our advanced performance engineering and motorsport technology courses aim to offer our students a unique learning experience, thanks to the dynamic structure of the modules, tailored to producing the best automotive engineers in the business.

Although it is a highly competitive industry, our students are able to interact and gain real-life experience working within a number of leading high profile race teams. Partnering with racing teams and seasoned professional racing drivers, our Advanced Performance Engineering and Motorsport Technology degrees aim to offer you a unique learning experience – you put in your hours in the lecture theatre like anyone else but when you get out on the track it’s for real.
The UK is well recognised as an international centre for automotive design in the areas of motorsport, engines and volume car manufacturing. Our two great undergraduate degree courses cover computer aided design and analysis as well as overall vehicle concept design, manufacture and build, and subsequent performance engineering. This combination of theory mixed with practical experience aims to produce graduates who have recognisable skills that are highly sought after by employers in the industry.
Continuing on to Masters level, you have the opportunity to develop innovative advanced production management techniques on our MSc Engineering Management course. It is also possible to study an MSc Motorsport Engineering in which you will develop skills in the advanced analysis and design of motorsport systems.

"Since starting my degree at the University of Bolton, I’ve gained knowledge both inside and outside the classroom which has helped me to plan my future career in Engineering Management. I completed the entire 2018 season of the British Rallycross Championship which we won, and I have also been able to gain experience with a year supporting a Mercedes GT4 car in the British GT Championship. Both of these experiences have enabled me to develop my knowledge of how race teams operate, and helped me to see the management of performance teams first-hand. I don’t think I could have done any of this without the opportunities I have had since starting my degree in BSc (Hons) Motorsport Technology at the University of Bolton."
