Formula 1 Aerodynamicist Willem Toet Offers Insight Into Professional Motorsport

Well-respected motorsport professional Willem Toet appeared at the University of Bolton on Thursday 12 October as the National Centre for Motorsport Engineering welcomed their first professional speaker.

His impressive background in Formula 1, working for Ferrari, Benetton and Sauber makes him one of the industry’s most successful aerodynamicists and provided the audience with an evening of anecdotes from his 30-year career. The event reinforced the University of Bolton’s policy of being a Teaching Intensive, Research Informed (TIRI) institution and highlights its commitment to providing both students and the local community with the opportunity to engage and learn directly from industry professionals. Prior to the speech, the event offered both prospective and current motorsport students a tour of the university’s state-of-the-art facilities and the opportunity to meet with course academics.

Mark Busfield, Director of the NCME commented: “The event was a great success and we are so thankful to have had the opportunity to learn about Williem Toet’s amazing career. With the industry growing rapidly, more opportunities and jobs in motorsport are becoming available, whether that’s in technology or engineering and Williem Toet is a real inspiration for all aspiring motorsport students.”
