Graduate Finance Jobs Remain in the UK Post Brexit Graduate Finance Jobs Remain in the UK Post Brexit

Worried about Brexit and the impact on jobs? The UK is still a hotspot for finance, with many graduate opportunities available.

With the Brexit transition period now over, many people will be wondering about the impact on job security and career progression. The finance sector is one that has had a lot speculation on what’s about to happen next, with uncertainties around job prospects in the UK’s financial capital, London, and other major cities.

However, according to a recent survey by the Financial Times, the employment shift to the EU is yet to happen, with nine of the world’s largest asset managers ramping up their UK employment spend in recent years.

This makes graduate finance jobs a secure option across the nation, and career progression within the UK can continue to bloom without concern.

Does Brexit impact your career?

One of the most common issues seen in the jobs market in recent years is uncertainty. With the Brexit deal now done, we can start building a roadmap for different industries in the midst of new changes.

Despite some initial challenges, the financial industry continues to be an exciting place for graduates to kick-start their careers. While one of the biggest fears for graduates is the loss of passport rights, international relationships will still play a big role in finance.

The success of financial centres such as London is not fully dependent on access to the EU single market. Although there will be some changes to the way things work, the UK remains an attractive place to do business.

For graduates, it’s important to remain competitive. Postgraduate training is a great way to do this, preparing for a post-Brexit world where uncertainty still lingers for now.

Did you know that Postgraduates earn on average 18% more than first degree holders, and have access to higher paid roles?

In-demand finance jobs (London and worldwide)

When it comes to navigating the jobs market abroad, there could be some complications ahead. Although there are separate agreements in place for cross-border working in Northern Ireland, UK citizens will now have to apply for a visa and may have to undergo long processes for short-term business travel.

This doesn’t mean that international travel won’t be possible, and it should still be relatively easy to find jobs in the EU.

There are a number of in-demand jobs within the UK, Europe and the rest of the world. These include working in financial analysis, FinTech (finance and technology) jobs, accountancy, investment banking, auditing, and personal finance.

The recent pandemic has also seen a rise in demand for tax specialists, particularly workers with expertise in corporate tax strategy. Globally, companies are taking in-house ownership of their tax work, creating more corporate opportunities for finance leaders.

A great time to increase finance and tax skills

Graduates with both tech and finance skills are particularly high in demand, so there’s never been a better time to retrain or pursue a master’s degree.
