Graduate Success: A Gaming Narrative

We are delighted to announce that recent Creative Writing graduate Lene Nyland has secured a job as a quality assurance tester at a video game production company.

When asked about her time studying with us, Lene said: 'I owe a lot, probably even my job, to my time at Bolton.

'Not only did it teach me loads about writing, something that I still love, but it also taught me loads about myself. In particular, how to be more confident, and not shy away from opportunities that could lead to something great.

'Another thing I learned, is that hard work pays off. I had classmates who worked multiple jobs and had families they looked after, who still managed to make it through their degree without as much as a complaint.

'Studying with them, and seeing how hard they worked in every aspect of their lives, inspired me. And that mentality is something I will carry with me for a long time'.

Here in the departments of Creative Writing and English, we pride ourselves on equipping our students with the skills to secure work in the creative industries.
