Off to La La Land

April saw 50 Special Make-Up Effects students and staff attending a major event in Los Angeles.

Monsterpalooza is an American multi-genre convention focusing on horror, creatures and makeup work which draws tens of thousands of attendees and is also visited by various horror celebrities and others from the film industry.

Whilst there, the students go to hear talks from their effects heroes, speak to various practitioners, watch demonstrations of techniques and applications and of course have a great time!

Natalie Woods, Programme Leader said: 'The trip was a fantastic experience, a great opportunity to network. The students have had a great time, learned so many new things and met many of their heroes.'

In addition to the main event, the staff team arranged visits to various FX studios in the LA area and even managed to discuss the possibility of the world-famous Stan Winston Studio developing a brief especially for the make-up students to work on as part of their studies.
