Claire Hough

Lecturer - Nursing

Following a 15 year first career in Engineering, manufacturing Turbochargers for a global company, I took the dramatic step of commencing my training to be an adult nurse in 2008 at the University of Huddersfield. On qualifying with a first I started work immediately in the community and have spent my nursing career in District Nursing and Long Term Conditions management across a variety of trusts.
I love the practical elements of nursing and through District Nursing I have been fortunate to continue developing my knowledge and have gained a wide variety of practical skills such as End of Life Care, Spirometry and Management of Long Term Conditions, Wound Care etc. In addition, my leadership roles in both of my careers has given me a unique perspective of leadership within the Nursing profession.
In 2013 I qualified as a mentor for student nurses on placement in my team and in 2017 completed my Specialist Practitioner qualification in District Nursing here at the University of Bolton.
