Gwynneth Carville

Lecturer in Special Effects for Film and Television

With extensive experience in teaching in Higher Education in FE colleges, I was appointed to a lecturer role at the University of Bolton in September 2016.

I am now module leader for Technical Research and committed to making this academic module more accessible to students by taking account of students' preferred learning styles. The inclusion of more visual and interactive activities has made the learning tasks and required skills needed for competence within academic writing and oral presentations. This has led to rising student competence in aspects of coursework that are generally not popular with students on vocational focussed courses.

Recently a graduate of a Master of Arts in Creative Pattern Cutting (Distinction), attained at the University of Huddersfield (November 2018), I am now reviewing how best to implement further research in order to profound a solid foundation of skills required for the SFX Costume elements of the SFX generic degree and the new SFX Costume pathway.

On graduating with an honours degree in Fashion and Textiles (1984), I worked in the fashion industry as a Head Designer and Designer/Pattern cutter for manufacturers of most of the brands on the high street (1980’s/90’s).
