Liz Midwinter

Liz qualified as a nurse from Liverpool John Moores University in 2007 with a DipHE in Nursing (adult). Since then she has worked in Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care, Theatres and Primary Care. Her qualifications include a BSc (Hons) Nurse Practitioner from the University of Central Lancashire and an MSc Emergency Medicine from Manchester Metropolitan University, as well as being a credentialed Advanced Practice Level Nurse with the Royal College of Nursing. Her most recent role is as a Nurse Clinician in the Emergency Department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, which she still does one day per week, working autonomously across all areas of the Department.

Whilst at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals she was an Advanced Practice Education Facilitator and helped set up the Trusts Advanced Clinical Practice framework and training programme, working along side Trust executives and colleagues from Health Education England and NHS improvement.

Liz is a member of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine simulation faculty and the emergency medicine specialist interest group for the Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare and regularly teaches on a number of courses including debriefing, human factors and decision making. She is the co-creator of EDeducate, a free open access medical education website across various social media platforms, providing free education to emergency department staff. Liz is also a member of the world-renowned ATACC faculty and co-wrote the Nurse Trauma and Critical Care course. She also teaches on courses such as Advanced Life Support and the European Trauma Course."
