Professional Body Accreditation by IMechE

This year we have our Mechanical Engineering Degrees were re-accredited by the IMechE for a further 5 years The IMechE expressed confidence in our programmes giving several commendations about our course, facilities and staff.

Following other successful accreditations in the school, we are proud to announce that all of our undergraduate programmes are now accredited by professional bodies, meaning that graduates can achieve professional recognition after completing a period in employment.

Professional recognition by an accrediting body like the IMechE means that those graduates achieving this status will, for example, be able to use the designatory Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng).

This status and the associated designatory letters are important to many employers who are dealing with large contracts which need sanctioning by Chartered Engineers, as confirmation that professional standards have been maintained.

Accreditation is confirmation that our courses reach a standard which is internationally recognised. Employers of registered engineering professionals have the assurance of knowing that their employees have had their competence independently assessed, their credentials verified, and their commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) established.

If you are planning to become an Engineer we would welcome discussing your future route to professional recognition. If you are an employer we would welcome your views on the importance of professional body recognition.
