The University of Bolton has opened a Social Work Centre for the people of Bolton. The centre will be operated by Social Work students, supported by qualified professionals, providing a free service for members of the public based in the University’s Queens specialist building on Queen Street, Farnworth.

The career of a social worker involves working in a range of challenging environments working alongside professionals such as housing services, police, and health and social care teams. You could be working with children, young people or adults, supporting families, care leavers and older people, as well as those with mental health issues, learning difficulties or physical disabilities.

As a heavily work-based and experience-focused subject area, you will benefit from multiple placements in a variety of environments. To prepare you for your placements, you will also take part in skills development days, which take place on campus.
