Testimonials

Lucy Detheridge

Fine Art | 2019

"The human form has been a theme in my work since I began studying at GCSE level. I am inspired by the great realist painters and artists of the renaissance period, notably Da Vinci and his anatomical drawings. I love the challenge of representing the body and have been attempting to blend my influences into a contemporary style, focusing on body image."

Louise Giovanelli

Guest speaker | 2019

"Painter Louise Giovanelli gave an artist talk to fine art students in Bolton School of the Arts. On her visit to us she had just returned from Florida where she had completed a Master Artist residency at the Atlantic Center for the Arts. Previously, she was one of the 12 artists shortlisted for the prestigious Contemporary British Painting Prize 2017 through which she received a judges' Special Commendation award."

Charlotte Roberts

Fine Art | 2019

"I’m utterly shocked that I have been granted with this opportunity to be accepted onto the Venice Biennale Fellowship. I feel honoured to be representing the University of Bolton and possibly putting Bolton on the map! It’s simply an unbelievable experience and I aim to make the most of my time there."

Katherine Glover

BA (Hons) Art and Design with foundation year | 2019

"My work is figurative and often references feminist ideas and the experience of being a woman today. I am also interested in communicating the challenges and experiences I encounter as a disabled woman. In addition, more recent work explores concepts surrounding beliefs and spirituality – why people believe what they do fascinates me.

I enjoy the multi-layered mark-making capabilities of drypoint etching and exploring the different qualities of paint media through the use of acrylic and gouache. These 2D pieces have also been mediated through to sculpture into clay and papier-mâché."
