The University of Bolton has announced a sponsorship deal with Bolton Wanderers Ladies Football Club. The university has backed the team’s mini-tour to Malta in May, when the ladies will face Malta’s national team. Chris Knights, BWFC Ladies’ coach, said: “We are really excited and want to say a heartfelt thanks to the University of Bolton for sponsoring us.” “Enjoying such close links with the university and its wonderful facilities will have a hugely positive impact.” Chris added: “It’s astonishing to think that the team will be playing against the Malta national team. It’s a real coup and it will be a fantastic experience for the players.” The team stepped out at the University of Bolton Stadium on Sunday 28 April, in the final home match of their maiden Northern Division One campaign against Barnsley, which ended in a 2-2 draw. Bill Dawson, from the University of Bolton, said: “We are delighted to sponsor Bolton Wanderers Ladies.” “We believe the relationship can benefit our students’ experience, particularly in areas such as sports science, coaching and psychology, as well as the social sports and volunteering aspects of student life.” “We wish the team all the best in their games in Malta and we shall be watching their progress from here on in with interest.” “With the ambition and dedication of all those involved, I believe the team will go from strength to strength and that next season will be an exciting one.” The team flies to Malta at the end of May and the match against the national Malta team is on Saturday 25 May.
