VFX students London Studio Visit

Our link with Oscar-winning Visual Effects company Double Negative has once again been a fantastic success.

The company came to the university to deliver a project brief to our third-year students earlier in the year, which resulted in the students then going down to DNeg’s London studio to show the results of their work, get feedback and generally soak up the experience as well as showing the company how good they were. While down in London, the students and staff also visited several other VFX companies.

This one of the core elements of our courses, having industry involved as much as possible to show off our students talent, make sure that we are continually up to date with the techniques and approaches used by industry and give students the opportunity to speak to people who can (and often do) offer them work in this fantastic, growing field.

Richard Jones, Programme Leader for VFX said 'Our trip down to London has become something of a yearly pilgrimage for students and is one of the highlights of our year.'

'The quality of work created is always so impressive and the students love the fact that although it is nerve-wracking, they get to show industry partners what they are capable of.'

Several students have gained work from this project in previous years, so fingers crossed this year will be another successful one.
