Deciding on a career path can seem like a tremendous task to begin with. After studying multiple subjects for years, you finally have an idea about what you enjoy learning and potentially a career to pursue. The next step is to look for a degree in the industry you want to head into.
In this blog, you will discover a little more about the potential careers you can have after obtaining a Nursing and Midwifery degree. Of course, there are many different types of nurses, geriatric, cardiac, emergency and even forensic. With many options to choose from and all of them as equally rewarding as the next, there can be some tough decisions after graduation. After reading this blog, we hope you’ll have some idea on what career you might choose as a nurse.
It is well known that nurses are considered one of the most honourable professions. Not only do they work hard to see a high number of patients each day, but they do it with empathy and when required, sympathy. There is one area of nursing which has seen a steep rise in popularity for career choices, and that is mental health.
As mental health patient numbers have soared in recent years, there has been more demand for nurses to assist. One in four people suffers from some form of mental health issue, from depression and anxiety to bipolar and eating disorders. There is a wide range of symptoms, causes, and ways to help reduce the conditions, and it is a mental health nurse’s job to support patients in managing their conditions.
Many people embark on these heroic careers, caring for others, and one of them was none other than British acting legend Dame Julie Walters. In her younger years, she worked as a nurse in a Birmingham Hospital. Her career took a turn towards acting when the urge to act became too strong, and she landed her first role in 1975. Although the famed actress has seen massive success in her career, she often talks fondly about her time as a nurse.
