The University of Bolton’s Institute of Management was delighted to welcome a delegation from Wuhan Business University, led by Vice-President, Professor Jiani Liu. The Chinese delegates were welcomed by Bill Dawson, Director of the Institute, and Martyn Shaw, the University’s Business Development Director.
The two universities signed the first of a number of progression agreements to allow students from Wuhan Business University to come to the UK to study programmes in Accountancy, Business and Logistics. Wuhan Business University has around 9,000 students studying in similar subject areas and is particularly keen to establish a strong relationship with Bolton. Professor Liu commented: “I am really impressed with the Institute of Management’s close links with companies such as Warburtons, JD Sports and businesses based at the nearby Logistics North facility as it is important for students to get experience of the workplace while they are studying so they can apply theory to practice, something we are especially keen on in Wuhan.” After being invited to attend the World Military Games, due to be staged in Wuhan in 2019, and with two events being hosted by Wuhan Business University, the University of Bolton’s President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor George Holmes said, “It was a pleasure to meet Professor Liu and her colleagues – their energy and enthusiasm were infectious and we look forward to the creation of a sustainable and successful collaboration in the coming months.”
