Chris Davidson

Lecturer - Nursing

Chris Davidson was born and grew up in Newcastle upon Tyne. In 2008, he completed a degree in Film Studies and Creative Writing at Cumbria Institute of the Arts, Carlisle (now the University of Cumbria). Following this endeavour, he began training as a student nurse at Birmingham City University.

Since qualifying in 2012, Chris has progressed rapidly through to Nurse Specialist level. Chris has worked with older adults and young persons in brain injury rehabilitation and dementia care throughout his career, both as a staff nurse then as a discharge coordinator, before becoming a Dementia Nurse Specialist at Royal Bolton Hospital where he worked for three years prior to becoming a lecturer with the university. In this time, he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Health and Social Care here at the university and has worked across many healthcare settings and environments from smaller specialist units such as Leamington Spa Brain Injury Unit and the Walton Centre in Liverpool, to Salford Royal Hyperacute Brain Injury Ward and finally at Royal Bolton Hospital.

Chris has always had an interest in teaching and mentorship and continues to teach on Dementia and Older Adult Care here at the University. In 2017, Chris was a finalist in the category of Best Dementia Nurse Specialist at the National Dementia Care Awards.
