Gilly Keogh

Senior Lecturer

Qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 2006. My clinical experience I worked as a Community Staff Nurse for 5 years. I completed a 12 month secondment as an End-of-Life Care Facilitator for the Macmillan Team. This included delivering an end-of-life care programme to Nursing and Care Home staff to improve end of life care and prevent unnecessary hospital admissions.

My aim was to become a Macmillan Nurse and following the secondment I successfully applied for a post within the Macmillan Team. I worked as a Macmillan Nurse for 5 years and changed my role within this time to Specialist Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Lead. I managed a team of 10 nurses and helped to develop the palliative care service. I completed the Non-Medical Prescribing Course at Bolton during this time and changed my role 12 months ago joining the Non-Medical Prescribing Team at Bolton as a lecturer. I was successful following a promotion recently to Programme Lead/Senior Lecturer for Non-Medical Prescribing.
