Lecturer in Pharmacology. Qualifications and current studies BSc Hons (pharmacy). GPhC. Registered. NMP (V300 level 7) studying PGCE. Main teaching subject area: Non- medical Prescribing, Pharmacology
I qualified as a Pharmacist in 1984 in Leicester and Nottingham.
I then moved to Manchester and worked in a large university teaching hospital as a clinical pharmacist and a dispensary manager. I specialised clinically in Mental Health and qualified as a Non-Medical prescriber.
My teaching experience began with tutorials for undergraduate pharmacy students and pre-registration pharmacists and I became a registered pre-reg tutor with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
My passionate interest in medicines safety, and in particular in medication errors, led me to a part-time research and teaching secondment with the University of Manchester for 2 years.
I taught and developed undergraduate and postgraduate modules and participated in clinical, hospital-based research into the causes and prevention of medication incidents.
I also took a secondment to the University of Bolton for 2 years to teach Non- Medical prescribing and this post became permanent in January 2017 when I retired from the NHS after 33 years.
