Danny Morton started his career in the Electricity Supply Industry before taking his PhD in dielectric materials at the University of Salford. After a period in the manufacturing industry he subsequently moved into Higher Education and led the Systems group at the University of Huddersfield, before moving to the University of Bolton. His current research interests are in power systems and smart grid technologies, working with colleagues at the University of South Westphalia in Germany. Prior to taking on the role of Head of School he managed the University’s off-campus Doctoral Research centres which operate in Malawi, Zambia, Ras Al Khaimah, Greece and Germany. He has supervised over 35 PhD’s to successful completion.
Whilst his academic background is in engineering, more recently he has applied his systems engineering expertise into research in the area of business and management field. He is also engaged in work on systematic innovation using TRIZ and other methodologies working with companies to solve problems. He has worked as a for the UK Quality Assurance Agency in Higher Education (QAA) as a reviewer both in public and private sector institutions in has been a reviewer for the National Council for Academic Accreditation (NCAAA) in Saudi Arabia.
