The University of Bolton has organised a second annual charity football match which will see staff lining up against students at the home of Bolton Wanderers. The match will be played at the University of Bolton Stadium on Wednesday May 6.
Staff and students will be asked to pay a minimum donation (students £5 and staff £10) to play and the proceeds will be split between Bolton Wanderers Community Trust and the university’s Club Sports. It will be free of charge for anyone who wants to watch. Each team will have 20 players and there will be a ‘rolling substitutes’ system.
Last May, the first staff v students match to be held at the stadium ended with a resounding victory for the students, 8 goals to 2. Tom Halligan, duty officer at Bolton One, who organised both games, said: “Despite the result last year, it was a great event.
“We wanted to do it again this year as it is one of the many ways that the University enhances the student experience, as well as giving staff the chance to play at the University of Bolton stadium and raise some money for charity. “The university’s link with Wanderers is very exciting and we will continue to work closely with the club.”
Kick-off is 2pm. The game has been arranged as part of the deal with Bolton Wanderers to name the ground the University of Bolton Stadium.
